This Privacy Policy explains how WellFedHippo.com and our public presence on Facebook process personal data. It follows the Republic of Moldova’s Law No. 195/2024 on the protection of personal data, in force since 23 August 2026 and aligned with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). EU visitors are also covered by the GDPR itself.

- We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer because our processing (a non-commercial blog, with no large-scale monitoring and no sensitive data) does not require one under Law No. 195/2024.
2. Scope
- This policy applies to all visitors of WellFedHippo.com, including those who reach our content through social platforms.
- We do not monetise content through Meta Business or show third-party ads.
- We do not use profiling or automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. What We Collect, Why, and on What Legal Basis
- Contact messages and comments (name or nickname, email address, message): to reply to you and to publish the comments you submit. Legal basis: your request and our legitimate interest in running the blog. Retention: correspondence up to 2 years after the last exchange; published comments until you ask us to remove them.
- Usage data with your consent (masked IP address, browser and device type, date and time, referring URL, pages visited), collected through Google Analytics: to understand and improve the site. Legal basis: your consent. Retention: no longer than 14 months.
- Security and technical logs (IP address, request data) and the Cloudflare Turnstile anti-spam check on forms: to protect the site against abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in security. Retention: server logs for up to 14 days.
- Records of consent (your cookie choice, date and policy version): to prove consent, as the law requires. Legal basis: legal obligation. Retention: for as long as needed to prove that consent was given.
- We do not collect special categories of data (for example health, biometric, religious or political data), and we do not collect financial data.
- Providing personal data is voluntary. If you choose not to, you can still read the whole site; we just cannot reply to your messages or publish your comments.
4. Cookies and Consent
- We use the licensed Complianz plugin to show a cookie banner on your first visit.
- No non-essential cookie is loaded until you actively accept it. «Reject» is as easy as «Accept».
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the «Cookie Settings» link in the footer.

5. Recipients and Data Sharing
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- Data is processed by service providers acting on our behalf, only to the extent needed: hosting (our own infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova), Google (Analytics and Tag Manager, with consent), Cloudflare (Turnstile anti-spam) and Google Gmail (our email inbox).
- Embedded content from YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, and the TrustedSite badge, loads only with your consent.
- We disclose data to public authorities only when the law requires it.
6. Transfers Outside the Republic of Moldova
- Some providers (Google, Cloudflare, Meta) may process data in the European Union or the United States.
- Transfers to EU/EEA countries are allowed under Law No. 195/2024. Transfers to other countries, including the United States, take place only under the safeguards that the law provides, such as standard contractual clauses.
7. Your Rights
Under Law No. 195/2024 (and the GDPR, for EU visitors) you have the right to:
- access your personal data and receive a copy;
- rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase your data (see our Data Deletion Request page);
- restrict processing;
- data portability;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and to direct marketing at any time (we do not send marketing);
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before you withdrew it.
Requests are free of charge and answered within one month of receipt. For complex requests we may extend this period by up to two further months; if so, we will tell you within the first month. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Right to complain: you can lodge a complaint with the National Center for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Moldova (CNPDCP), 48 Serghei Lazo St., MD-2004 Chișinău, phone (022) 820 801, centru@datepersonale.md, datepersonale.md. EU visitors can also complain to the supervisory authority in their own country.
8. Security and Personal Data Breaches
- We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS encryption, access control, regular security testing and backups.
- If a personal data breach occurs, we notify the CNPDCP and, where the breach is likely to put you at high risk, we inform you directly, as Law No. 195/2024 requires.
9. Children’s Privacy
- This site is not designed for children. Under Moldovan law, a child under 14 needs the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use online services.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 14.
- If you believe your child has submitted data to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Proof and Records of Consent
- Records of consent are enabled in Complianz: we store each visitor’s cookie choice, its date and the policy version, so that we can show valid consent as Law No. 195/2024 requires.
- We also keep a technical record of how consent is obtained (banner content and cookie-blocking configuration).
- Consent records are used only for compliance and are not linked to your identity beyond what is needed to prove consent.
11. Changes to This Policy
- We may revise this policy to reflect changes in the law or in our services.
- The latest version is always on this page, with its «Last updated» date shown at the top.
